Who they are

Moped Couple is a man and a woman on a moped, and the community wiki lists them among the four multi playable characters. The man is the primary rider; the woman rides behind as the secondary.

The pairing has a reputation in the community because of how differently the two react to disaster — but that is flavour rather than mechanics.

The ability: speed boost

Their defining tool is a short speed boost. In a game where most obstacles can be cleared if you have enough momentum, a boost is a genuinely strong ability, and it is the reason Moped Couple appears high on most sensible rankings.

The boost is also the character’s main hazard. Levels place traps where a fast approach is lethal, and the difference between “boost here” and “do not boost here” is the whole skill.

How the two-rider rules apply

The same multi-rider rules that govern Irresponsible Dad apply here:

  • The man is primary, so his death ends any finish-line route.
  • The woman is secondary and can be ejected on her own button.
  • Secondary riders can still collect tokens, so a token level survives losing the man.

Strengths

  • Unmatched speed. Nothing else traverses open ground like a boosted moped.
  • Two riders. A spare body for trap-triggering and puzzles.
  • Good base speed even unboosted. The moped is quick without the ability.

Weaknesses

  • Less stable than the bicycle. The moped is faster and more nervous.
  • The boost is a commitment. There is no way to boost gently; you either have the speed or you do not.
  • No vertical ability. Gaps must be jumped with momentum, not with a jump button.
  • Both riders are exposed.

How to actually play them

  1. Learn where not to boost. The ability is a liability in about a third of the levels you meet.
  2. Boost into ramps, not into hazards. The boost converts to height when the terrain cooperates.
  3. Eject the passenger for switch levels. She is a free trigger, the same way the child is for Irresponsible Dad.
  4. Watch your landing angle. Speed multiplies bad landings into fatal ones.

Achievements connected to them

  • Ride or Die — beat three featured levels with Moped Couple.
  • Ready To Mingle — achieve victory as a widower, which requires finishing after the passenger is gone.
