Who he is

Segway Guy is one of the four original characters: a man in a suit on a personal transporter. He is the character the mobile version relabels as “Business Guy”, which is worth knowing if you are comparing guides across platforms.

What he can do

His defining ability is the simplest in the game: he jumps.

That sounds unremarkable until you consider what levels actually ask of you. Most obstacles are gaps, ledges, spikes and moving platforms. Every other character has to solve those with momentum and balance. Segway Guy solves them by leaving the ground.

  1. The jump is a universal answer. It works in levels built for driving, levels built for climbing and levels built for chaos.
  2. The base is stable. Unlike the wheelchair or the monoped vehicles, the Segway stays upright under normal driving.
  3. Mistakes are recoverable. A jump that goes wrong usually ends with a landing you can drive out of, rather than an instant mangle.

Where he struggles

  • He is fragile. This is a consistent point across the roster, but the Segway’s exposure makes it felt more often: there is no vehicle body between the character and the hazard.
  • He has no way to remove obstacles. Everything has to be dodged or jumped.
  • No speed ability. On long flat runs, Wheelchair Guy and Moped Couple both leave him behind.
  • He cannot fly. Santa Claus and Helicopter Man solve vertical levels in a way a single jump cannot.

How to actually play him

  1. Jump early, not late. The jump arc is generous at the start and punishes hesitation at the edge.
  2. Use the jump to reposition, not just to clear. A jump is often the fastest way to change which side of a hazard you are on.
  3. Lean in the air. Air control changes your landing angle, and the landing is usually what kills you.
  4. Do not fight the terrain. If a slope is throwing you, jump and land on the flatter part beyond it.

Achievements connected to him

  • The Future is Now — beat three featured levels with Segway Guy.
  • Upper Body Strength — finish a level on the Segway without your feet. This is a good example of the game’s habit of turning a specific injury state into a goal.
